Barbering

New Age Barbering

The International College of Beauty, Arts & Sciences basic barbering course is designed to give you the
highest quality training. Students will learn hair styling, shaving, coloring, precision haircutting, permanent waving and more. The program consists of 1500 hours of lectures, demonstrations, participation and examinations on all subjects. Upon graduating from our progressive learning center, you will be confident and prepared for the State Board Examination, the first step in the launch of your successful career.

Barbering Curriculum

The curriculum for students enrolled in a barbering course shall consist of fifteen hundred (1,500) clock hours of technical instruction and practical training covering all practices constituting the art of barbering pursuant to Section 7316 of the Barbering and Cosmetology Act. For the purpose of this section, technical instruction shall means instruction by demonstration, lecture, classroom participation, or examination. Practical operation shall mean actual performance by the student of a complete service on another person or mannequin. Our institution uses direct method of instruction.

The course of study for the Barbering course is 910 hours of practical training in hairdressing, 390 hours of theoretical instruction and practical training in shaving and 200 hours of technical instruction in Health and Safety.

Barbering Performance Objectives

Acquire knowledge of laws and rules regulating California’s barbering establishments’ practices.
Acquire the knowledge of sanitation and sterilization as related to all phases of hair and skin.
Acquire knowledge of general theory relative to barbering including anatomy, physiology, chemistry and theory.
Acquire business management techniques common to barbering.

Barbering Course Goals

To successfully master training requirements needed to make application for the California State Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology licensing examination.
To develop professional skills and attitudes in the interest of safety and sanitation for oneself as well as others, as is relative to having a successful career as Barber.
To graduate from this institution possessing those skills and knowledge necessary to pass the State Board examination and secure entry-level employment

Part time: 14 Months
