In order to become a licensed cosmetologist, barber, manicurist, or esthetician, all California beauty school graduates must take a licensing exam at their local BBC center.

The founder and principal of International College of Beauty Arts & Sciences, Sonia Boghosian has been involved with the beauty industry for more than 35 years. She is recognized nationally and internationally for creating outstanding products, protocols and advanced education. Mrs Boghosian has been working closely with professionals in the field of beauty and now it is her mission to share her expertise with her students and you in your search for a new and exciting career.

  • I was a substitute instructor for 6 weeks in this school. I was impressed that ICBAS has changed a lot since I graduated from this school over 10 years ago. The school has more students now and offers more classes. Even the faculty members & the staff are more knowledgeable and friendly. The esthetic Dept is growing & successful.   • I'm a makeup artist for TV at Warner Bros and Universal, so I was looking for a school that was hybrid online and in person- as I already knew a lot about skin care and needed to be available for work. This school was perfect. My teacher Ms. Nune is a dream. She is an amazing esthetician and a fantastic instructor. She's also just a fun person. I genuinely enjoy being around her and I have learned SO much from her stellar skills. Sonia, the owner of the school has developed an amazing product line we get to use. Let me tell you- as a TV makeup artist I get so much skin care for free. I didn't think I would be impressed with these products but they are TRULY high quality. I will definitely use them in my own spa. They smell and feel amazing. Anita is one of the teaching assistants, and she is so valuable to all of us. She helps all of us to prepare for the state board, answering all our questions, and has such a great attitude. I'm happy to see her every time I come to school. Monika in the office efficiently takes care of all the administrative needs promptly so you will have no problems having questions answered clearly. I've been to Cosmetology school before (didn't finish) and this school is incomparably better. The only thing I'll add is that I do hope after Covid the online learning hybrid curriculum is still an option. I think for students like me- I have a tough time, sitting though hours and hours of serious classes that are pretty intense. I'm not sure I would have been able to handle doing this in person. I need breaks and to go at my own pace. You have a book and take online tests with approximately 1500 highly scientific questions and answers, and in state board there's really only a hundred so I'm not clear on why we're studying to basically be medical students and scientists in only 6 months. It's frustrating for those of us that are not naturally good at retaining that kind of information. So cramming your short term memory with this intense science might be something not all of us can handle. I know Stateboard makes schools follow this book, but hopefully Stateboard might consider this as a good way for the future because all the students love hybrid learning. Different people learn different ways and if you leave me in a classroom for 8 hours straight with this heavy information- I'm not sure I'd have the same results I am now- I'm getting all A's on my tests because I can study my own way. Anyway, great school. Fantastic instructors. Highly recommend it.

  • Today I just graduated from the esthetician's program and I couldn't be happier! The staff are very friendly and very attentive. Monika and Anita are both amazing people that made sure that I stayed on track and continued. Monika helped me fill out my FAFSA and receive grants to make the enrolling process so much easier. I am fortunate enough to have a job lined up for me as soon as I graduate but they also help newly graduated students find a job. They also offer two weeks of hands-on experience before your state board exam to ensure you are fully prepared! Overall my experience was very enjoyable and I would highly recommend this school.

  • I was fortunate enough to tour the school pre-Covid and have discussed the ongoing issues within Yelp with the owners. Take the reviews here with a grain of salt. Having worked in many beauty schools and graduated from one myself I can tell you the pettiness of students who feel like they have no other outlet. ICBAS has a 98% Graduation rate....call any other school around you and ask for their graduation rate...the national average is lower than 54.% .... with 5 accreditations and one of the few Beauty colleges still able to offer Financial Aid, ICBAS offers not only Pell grants but California Work Force development grants and Veterans grants as well as a selection of loans. No matter what other schools promise they all ONLY teach you how to pass the State Exam, why? Because the State doesn't give a rats ass about how "talented or educated'' you are and only that you will guard the patrons safety and meet sanitation standards during the exam. The rest you will learn behind the chair or assisting.

  • I definitely recommend this school, I graduated from this school about two years ago and I am currently working as an assistant and hairdresser. Ms. Sonia's excellent management, who helped me a lot at that time because I was studying and working at the same time, she is very patient, knowledgeable and polite.Ms. Zarii was an awesome teacher, knowledgeable and indebted to her.   • Yesterday, June 1st 2015 I took my State Board Exam, I passed (first attempt). With the help of the school, the extra classes offered by Miss Sonia Boghosian, and of course all my hard work, I passed the state board exam. This is the beginning of a new chapter, of course I need to take extra classes to gain more knowledge because school teaches the basic what we need to learn and know to pass the board exam, but if you want to pass, this is the school to be, they'll help you anyway they can to make sure that the student passes the State Board Exam, I highly recommend this college.
