Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. The ICBAS is approved by the U.S. Department of Education to participate in the Direct Loan Program, the Federal Pell Grant Program, and the Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant Program. The ICBAS also offers installment plans for students who do not qualify for federal assistance. Learn more about our financial assistance options on our Financial Aid page.

  • Yes. The total cost of each course includes the cost of your kit, uniform, books, online signing fee, and taxes.

  • Yes. We’re committed to helping our students find a desirable job in their new field. See our “About Us” page for more information on how we provide support for ICBAS graduates as they embark on their new career.

  • No, we do not provide housing.

  • We offer weekly State Board exam preparation classes to ensure all ICBAS students are thoroughly prepared for the exam. If a student doesn’t pass the exam on their first try, we offer additional exam prep classes for a fee.

  • In many cases, you can apply your accumulated hours to a course in another state, but this varies depending on the specific state and course. If you’re planning on moving and would like to see if you can transfer your hours, contact the state board that you moving to.

  • When you pass a California State Board exam, you’ll be licensed in California. California has reciprocity agreements with many other states, allowing you to get a license in those states if you already have a California license. Check with the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology for more information.

  • All of our courses are taught in English.

  • Class sizes are capped at 30 students per the rules and regulations of the State Board of California.

  • The cost of each ICBAS program varies depending on the length of the course and the cost of the course’s materials. The total cost of each ICBAS program (including tuition, kit, books, uniform, and taxes) is as follows:

    COSMETOLOGY 1000 $16,370.83

    BARBERING 1000 $16,379.59

    ESTHETICIAN 600 $12,944.97

  • Each ICBAS course has unique hour requirements. How quickly you complete the course depends on whether you’re studying full-time or part-time.

    Esthetician Program - 600 hours ( 17 weeks full time / 4.5 Months ) ( 24 weeks part time / 7 Months )

    Barber Program - 1000 hours ( 28 weeks full time / 7 Months ) ( 60 weeks part time / 15 Months )

    Cosmetology Program - 1000 hours ( 28 weeks full time / 7 Months ) ( 60 weeks part time / 15 Months )

  • Yes, we observe all federal holidays.

  • Yes, students will have the opportunity to practice with clients under instructors’ supervision.

    We also welcome students to work with their friends and family during our open clinic floor hours.
