The Cosmetology Program consists of 1,000 clock hours of technical instruction and practical operations covering all practices of cosmetology in accordance with state requirements. This program is delivered through a hybrid format: 50% online theory and 50% hands-on, on-campus training.

What You'll Learn

Technical instruction includes demonstration, lecture, classroom participation, and evaluation. Practical operations include the performance of services on clients under instructor supervision and are completed on campus in a professional training environment.

Hair — Foundations to Advanced Techniques

Hair cutting with shears, razors, and clippers. Hairstyling, including wet styling, thermal styling, and blow-drying. Hair coloring and lightening, including tinting, bleaching, highlights, lowlights, and corrective color. Chemical texture services, including permanent waving and chemical straightening.

Skin — Facials & Hair Removal

Facials, including manual and electrical treatments. Skin care procedures for various skin types, including cleansing, exfoliation, and masks. Facial and body hair removal, including eyebrow shaping. Makeup application. False eyelash application.

Nails — Manicuring & Pedicuring

Manicuring and pedicuring procedures, including gel manicures. Artificial nails and nail enhancements, including application, maintenance, and repair. Nail art techniques.

The Business of Beauty

Professional practices, including client consultation and communication. Record-keeping and employment preparation. California laws and regulations. Health and safety practices, including sanitation and infection control.

Program Policies & Outcomes

Outcome

Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and Proof of Training (POT) to apply for the California State Board licensing exam.

Student Requirements

Students are required to complete all program hours and pass a final examination with a minimum score of 85% in accordance with institutional standards.
